Are you a current or previous Component Association board member? Are you interested in a pathway to board service, including on the AHIMA Board? If so, then the AHIMA Leadership Development Academy is the choice for you!
The AHIMA Leadership Development Academy is a transformative program intended to create a path toward AHIMA Board service. This program offers participants a unique opportunity to unlock their potential through a dynamic experience designed to build confidence, resilience, and calm under pressure. The program blends practical tools with energizing mindset shifts, helping to reconnect with purpose, foster psychological safety, and turn conflict into creative collaboration. Participants will walk away with a personalized action plan and the skills to inspire stronger teams, healthier dynamics, and more meaningful results.
Candidate Requirements
Candidates must be professional-level AHIMA members who are currently serving or have previously served on a Component Association Board and agree to participate in all elements of the Leadership Development Academy (i.e., attend all meetings, etc.)

Fee
- The fee to participate in the AHIMA Leadership Development Academy is $275.
- Participants will also be eligible to receive CEUs for participating in the program.
- AHIMA will provide each selected participant with a complimentary registration to attend AHIMA26 from October 4-6 in San Antonio, TX. Participants will be responsible for covering all their travel- and hotel-related expenses to attend the in-person event.

Timeline
The Academy includes both virtual and in-person components.

- April through September 2026: Virtual sessions
- October 2026: Graduation in San Antonio, Texas at AHIMA26

Is there a fee to participate?
Yes, the fee to participate is $275.
What is the time commitment?
Eight 2-hour sessions plus an hour of pre-session reading/listening assignments and relationship building with colleagues.
Who can apply?
Premier or professional AHIMA members who are currently serving or have previously served on a Component Association Board.
Who is the faculty?
External subject matter experts, AHIMA leadership, and AHIMA Board members.
Will CEUs be offered?
Yes. Participants are eligible to earn up to 15 CEUs.
