Help AHIMA Celebrate HI@100 (2027-2028)

In 2028, the Health Information profession will turn 100. We have endured waves of transformation - the advent of HIPAA, the transition from paper-based records to electronic health records, ICD transitions, and interoperability. In each instance, these transitions have required HI professionals to redefine and/or reaffirm their value proposition.

With the evolution of autonomous tools such as AI, the profession faces its most consequential transformation that will fundamentally change how the profession works. At the same time, the regulatory environment at the state and federal level is more complex and nuanced than ever. The profession is simultaneously being disrupted and called upon more urgently than ever.

AHIMA will host a series of regional roundtable sessions in 2027 to convene senior healthcare leaders, including HI leaders, educators, and emerging professionals to honor the profession’s legacy, assess where it stands today, and identify the profession’s next evolution to remain a powerful force in healthcare.
