Sarah Laird, RHIA, CCS
Sarah Laird, RHIA, CCS, has 15 years of hospital and healthcare leadership experience. Sarah is responsible for strategic direction, administrative leadership, operational excellence, and business plan success. Sarah works with executive leadership to advance technology-enabled operations working within and across business units. Sarah’s previous leadership role allowed her to lead organizational improvement by introducing innovative technology-based solutions resulting in significantly increased operational efficiencies. Sarah has been successful in reorganizing and managing a coding department of 150 coders across multiple states into a more efficient structure. This increased efficiency surpassed expectations of Epic and Deloitte consultants as a “top performer, best practice” in coding metrics at the Epic Go Live events for multiple hospitals. Those metrics have proven sustainable due in large part to her leadership.
Sarah also developed a Remote Coding Internship Program that allows CAHIIM-accredited community colleges and universities to partner with the Novant Health Corporate Coding department for critical internships. This approach for internships was the first of its kind in the country. The internship program was recognized by AHIMA in 2017 with the Triumph Award for Innovation.
Sarah is active in both state and national professional affiliations (NCHIMA and AHIMA) and has spoken on a variety of topics at both associations’ annual meetings.
