Position Statement Question
What makes you uniquely qualified as an educator or practitioner to serve on the Council for Excellence in Education? (Please include what capacity/degree level of programming in academia.)
My passion is mentoring students and aspiring careerists and I believe I have been a positive influence in all of my roles. I have been fortunate to work in healthcare leadership as a decision maker as well as in higher education as faculty and administrator. I have also served in numerous volunteer positions for multiple professional organizations. No matter professional or volunteer, my passion has always focused on helping individuals work smarter and more deliberately toward achieving their professional goals. When the individual is invested, committed and is given opportunity, success is attainable. I believe it is imperative that as healthcare leaders that we help those around us first identify their goals and then do what we can to remove obstacles while at the same time offering appropriate tools that help them achieve their goals. I have been very fortunate to have mentors help me achieve goals that have changed not only my life, but my family's as well. I want to do the same for others. Since earning my Master's degree from the College of St. Scholastica, I have helped build and lead education programs that include in-person and virtual delivery at the Associate, Bachelor and Master's level. I am still part of the Master's in Healthcare Administration program offered through the University of Wisconsin's Stevens Point campus. I also serve on the Advisory Board for the HIT program at Mid-State Technical College.
