Betty Hovey

Kevin Klauer, DO, EJD, FACEP, FACOEP

Chief Executive Officer, AHIMA

Dr. Klauer is the Chief Executive Officer of AHIMA. He formerly served as health system Chief Medical Officer at HCA Florida and Ocala hospitals, CEO of the American Osteopathic Association and the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Risk Officer for TeamHealth.  He holds the following faculty appointments: Clinical Asst. Professor, Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine; Clinical Asst. Professor, Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is the co-author of four risk management books: Bouncebacks: Critical Care, Bouncebacks: Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine; Bouncebacks: Medical and Legal and Risk Management; and the Emergency Department: Executive Leadership for Protecting Patients and Hospitals. Dr. Klauer also served as the American College of Emergency Physicians Council Speaker and subsequently as a member of their Board of Directors. Dr. Klauer earned his Executive JD, with honors, from Concord Law School in 2011.

Mona Calhoun, PhD, MS, Med, RHIA, FAHIMA

President/Chair

Mona has 35 years’ experience in the profession and serves as chair of the HIM program at Coppin State University. She has led health information departments in behavioral health, rehabilitation, and acute care settings and has worked for a health information outsourcing company. She served as President, President-elect, Director, Delegate, and chair of several committees for the Maryland Health Information Management Association. Mona served as chair of the Educational Strategies Committee, Council for Excellence in Education (CEE), Fellowship, and Nominating Committees. She participated on the AHIMA Advocacy and Policy Council, CEE Educational Programming Workgroup, and AHIMA Professional Ethics Committee, and previously served on the Editorial Advisory Council for Journal of AHIMA. Mona is an accreditation peer reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.

Maria Caban Alizondo, PhD, RHIT, FAHIMA

President/Chair-Elect

Maria is the director of health information management services for UCLA Health System in Los Angeles, CA. She has been president of the California Health Information Association, CA delegate to AHIMA, and chair of the CHIA Governance Committee and Technology Taskforce. She participated in authoring the AHIMA CDI Toolkit, AHIMA Future of the House Taskforce and the AHIMA Envisioning Collaborative and is a proud AHIMA Mentor. Maria is passionate about strategic change, leadership, and developing new professionals. She writes and presents frequently on topics that influence the profession, including strategic change management, relational leadership, applied informatics and governance, and operational technology integrations.
