Separation of Invoices FAQs
We have heard your concerns about AHIMA invoices being confusing and we are working to make AHIMA billing easier to understand. Early this summer, AHIMA will launch a new, more simplified billing structure. What will change?
Recertification fees will now be collected every other year, in conjunction with your recertification cycle schedule.
AHIMA membership dues will continue to be collected every year on your membership renewal date. Explore the FAQs below to learn more about improvements to the AHIMA invoicing process.
Yes, you will receive an e-mail renewal notification 90 days prior to your membership expiring. Here is what the membership billing experience will look like:
Member: Rachel Travis, RHIA

Will recertification dues be collected every other year?
Yes, recertification dues will be collected every other year, to coincide with your recertification cycle. Here is what the recertification billing experience will look like:
Member: Rachel Travis, RHIA
Recertification Dues: $100
Recertification Status: Active
Recertification Payment Cycle: 1/1/2020 - 12/31/2021
How can I receive the member discount on recertification fees?
To take advantage of the member discount on recertification fees, you must be a current AHIMA member and submit your recertification payment prior to or on the recertification fee expiration date. Put simply: if you are not a current AHIMA member when your recertification cycle ends, you will have to pay the non-member rate to recertify.
Yes, but you have to make sure to renew your membership first in a separate transaction. After you renew your AHIMA membership, the AHIMA CEU Center will be updated to reflect the member rate for your re-certification fee.
No, you must be an active member prior to or on your recertification cycle end date.
Where will my recertification dues be invoiced?
Your recertification dues will be invoiced in the AHIMA CEU Center and payments must be made by or before your recertification cycle ends. If they are not paid by then, a recertification extension fee of $50 will be applied. Your CEU requirement must be met before you are able to pay your recertification fees.
Where will my membership dues be invoiced?
AHIMA is going green, and you will have the ability to print your membership invoice in MyAHIMA 90 days prior to your membership renewal date.
How will I be impacted by this if my recertification cycle ends this summer?
If you are in a recertification cycle ending this summer or beyond, you will find your recertification fees presented to you in the AHIMA CEU Center (after all of your CEUs have been entered). If you are a member at the time, you pay your recertification fees, you will pay the member price. If you are not a member at the time you pay your recertification fees, you will pay the nonmember price. Both members and nonmembers will be charged a price that accounts for any prior payments already made toward recertification fees during the cycle in question.
How will I be impacted by this if my membership cycle ends before this change takes effect?
Because membership invoices were mailed 45 days prior to your membership expiration date, 2021 invoices mailed through this period will include membership dues and the recertification fee. However, beginning summer, 2021, your online membership renewal will only include your membership dues and will appear separately from your re-certification fee(s), which will be in the AHIMA CEU Center.
Are there any other new enhancements I should know about?
AHIMA is going green, and you will have the ability to print your membership invoice in MyAHIMA 90 days prior to your membership renewal date. If applicable, you will also have an option to print an invoice for your recertification fee(s) in the AHIMA CEU Center once you’ve met your CEU requirements
