Leslie Patterson Moore, JD, joins the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as General Counsel, a critical member of the Executive team

(Chicago, September 5, 2024) AHIMA is pleased to announce the appointment of Leslie Patterson Moore, JD as General Counsel. Leslie’s experience includes over two decades of specializing in governance, compliance, legal advocacy, intellectual property, and employment law for non-profit organizations, most recently with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), where she served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel. At ACEP, Leslie oversaw all legal matters, provided guidance to its Board of Directors and executive staff, and served as the primary liaison and manager for the Ethics and Bylaws Committees.

“Leslie has an impressive proven track record of managing complex legal structures and issues, providing strategic counsel to leadership, navigating executive-level recruiting and contract negotiation, and leading cross-functional teams to support organizational goals,” said Kevin M. Klauer, CEO, AHIMA. “I know that her extensive experience and leadership will be an immediate asset to AHIMA.”

Leslie earned her Juris Doctor from Dedman School of Law, Southern Methodist University.

She will assume her new role as General Counsel on September 18.
