Dr. Angie Comfort is a nationally recognized leader in Health Information with over 30 years of experience advancing clinical documentation integrity, coding compliance, and revenue cycle innovation across both provider and vendor sectors.
She currently serves as Assistant Vice President of Revenue Integrity at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, where she leads large-scale CDI, HIM, and Revenue Integrity operations across a diverse academic health system. In this role, she has spearheaded systemwide AI adoption, led the transformation of middle revenue cycle operations, and championed enterprise-wide education and analytics to support improved patient outcomes and financial sustainability.
A lifelong learner, Angie holds a Doctorate in Business Administration with a focus in healthcare administration and a master’s degree in business administration focusing on project management. She is credentialed as a RHIA, CDIP, CCS, and CCS-P, and has consistently modeled excellence, integrity, and collaboration in every role she has held from hands-on coding to strategic leadership.
Angie is deeply committed to servant leadership, believing that true influence comes from listening, empowering others, and leading with empathy and purpose. She has held numerous volunteer and leadership roles within the Tennessee Health Information Management Association (THIMA), including serving as THIMA President.
Angie is also a champion of mentorship and member empowerment. Throughout her career, she has mentored countless HI professionals and developed deep insight into the mission and strategic direction of AHIMA. She envisions an AHIMA where mentorship is embedded in the culture, innovation is harnessed responsibly, and education is accessible to all members at every career level.
