Position Statement Question

Where do you think your skills, abilities, and strengths fit in with the CCHIIM mission, to assure the competency of professionals practicing health informatics and information management worldwide?

Position Statement Answer

I have been an HIM professional for 26-plus years and have been witness to many changes in the HIM profession during that time. I believe growing our profession not only comes from the development of our future workforce, but it also comes with expanded development of our current workforce. As the healthcare ecosystem grows, HIM professionals must be willing and able to transition into new roles with competency and workforce excellence. Leaders must have the ability to assess the needs of all stakeholders large and small. Leaders must have the ability to apply real world experience in order to form concepts for growth of future professionals. As a 26-plus year veteran, I have the ability to evaluate the needs of all stakeholders, as I have worked for small rural facilities and am now the system director of an organization with seven facilities and 32 clinics.
