If knowledge is power, then health information can be considered the most powerful currency for change in the healthcare ecosystem. Getting that information into the right hands at the right time continues to be a challenge and one that the American Health Information Management Association® (AHIMA) is committed to advancing through advocacy.
In collaboration with its members, industry leaders, and national healthcare organizations, AHIMA developed an advocacy agenda that will be leveraged to influence the public policy environment to benefit health information professionals, patients, and communities.
The AHIMA Advocacy Summit is where health leaders and policymakers come together to address important key policy issues related to health data and health information.
This two-day event, taking place March 11–12, 2024, in Washington, DC, includes a Public Policy Institute on March 11. This Institute will focus on:
- Improving individuals’ health journey through access to information, privacy, and equity
-
AHIMA members also have an opportunity to advocate for issues impacting the health information profession to their elected officials at our Capitol Hill Day on March 12.
Day 1: Includes a Public Policy Institute, with educational sessions on issues including artificial intelligence, patient matching, social determinants of health, global health, and more.
Day 2: Attendees are offered the opportunity to advocate for issues impacting the health information profession to their elected officials on Capitol Hill. For AHIMA members only.
Who Should Attend:
AHIMA US-based members are invited to attend the full event, including the Policy Institute on Day 1 and Capitol Hill Day on Day 2 of the Advocacy Summit. Non-members are invited to attend the Policy Institute on Day 1 (March 11, 2024).
Program content is tailored to health information professionals with advanced knowledge of public policy and advocacy.
