Faculty

 

 

Gloria Nardini is a visiting professor in the Department of Managerial Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and also teaches in Loyola’s Leadership Institute and its Management Certificate Program. Freelance consulting clients include Chicago Public Schools, North Central Regional Education Laboratory, the University of Illinois at Chicago Alumni Association, and American universities in Florence, Italy.

 

Since 1998, Ms. Nardini has taught in Loyola University’s Executive Education Department, developing customized communication and presentation skills programs.

 

She is a widely published author of books, has appeared in scholarly journals, and has presented conference papers. Ms. Nardini holds a doctorate in Language, Literacy, and Rhetoric from the University of Illinois at Chicago

 

 

Joseph Cherian teaches strategy, marketing, customer service, and change management for Loyola University Chicago, and is an associate professor of marketing at the University of Illinois (UIC) College of Business Administration. His research focuses on consumer behavior, an area in which he is nationally known and widely respected. Professor Cherian has published articles in numerous journals, and trained and consulted with several large corporations, as well as nonprofit and healthcare organizations.

 

He earned his doctorate in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin, focusing his dissertation on the influence of corporate culture on the adoption of innovations by hospitals.

 

Jill Callahan Dennis, JD, RHIA is senior vice president, public and industry leadership, for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), where she helps plan and execute the association’s policy and alliance agendas.  Prior to joining the AHIMA staff, she was principal of Health Risk Advantage, a Colorado-based risk management consulting firm that assists healthcare organizations nationwide to minimize their risk of liability. 

 

Her leadership on health information management issues spans almost 30 years, and she is an author and frequent speaker on risk management, privacy, and electronic health information management topics. 

 

Ms. Callahan-Dennis served on AHIMA’s Board of Directors from 2002 through 2007, and as AHIMA president in 2006. She is an appointed member of the Confidentiality, Privacy, and Security Workgroup of the American Health Information Community (AHIC) of the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.

 

She holds a law degree from Loyola University of Chicago, a Master’s in Administration (Health Administration concentration) from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Record Administration from Ferris State University.

 

 

Lorraine Smalley is the director of volunteer services for AHIMA. Ms. Smalley has 20 years of association management experience with allied healthcare professional associations. In her role with AHIMA volunteer leadership, she manages the operations of association leadership, committees, task forces, the House of Delegates, Communities of Practice, and component state associations. Prior experience includes management roles in multiple healthcare settings. Ms. Smalley holds a Bachelor’s in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Food Science from Northern Illinois University has a graduate degree pending with DePaul University in administering the volunteer sector of nonprofit organizations.
