Coding Roundtables Coding Roundtables

Purpose

The Coding Roundtables are a forum for grassroots coders to come together to learn, share, and network on issues related to coding and data quality. The Roundtables serve as a forum for coders to address problematic, and/or unresolved coding issues within their state. Roundtable Coordinators are responsible for organizing meetings in their region or state.

Process

Coders from all states are encouraged to become involved in Coding Roundtable activities. You do not have to be a member of AHIMA to attend a Coding Roundtable meeting. Coding Roundtables may meet quarterly or monthly, communicate by telephone, mail, or via the Internet.

Benefits

  • Coding Roundtable give coders the ability to network with their peers to discuss common coding issues.
  • Coding Roundtables are a vehicle to disseminate educational and coding related information to grassroots coders nationwide.

Coding Roundtables are offered by AHIMA's Component State Associations

AHIMA supports a system of component organizations in every state as well as Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. Component State Associations (CSA's) provide their members with local access to professional education, networking, and representation. One of the mechanisms to accomplish this is the local Coding Roundtable. Our Coding Roundtable network provides a rich resource for data collection and advocacy with regulatory agencies. If you are a member of AHIMA, contact your state Roundtable Coordinator by visiting the Coding Community of Practice. At your personal page, either click on Coding (under "My Communities") if you are already a member, or Join/Visit Communities, to become a member. Then locate Community Resources for the listing of Coordinators. Non-AHIMA members can locate their state coordinator by selecting the appropriate state. Contact information for either the Coordinator or, if not listed, the state president is found on the CSA Web site.

Obtain information on regional coding educational meetings co-sponsored by AHIMA and CSAs. Access local and state coding meetings and select the appropriate the state. You will be taken to the CSA's home page where meetings are usually listed on their Calendar.
