Communities of Practice Facilitators
The CoPs are virtual online specialty groups that members can use for networking, interaction, sharing of information and access to resources.

CoP Facilitators monitor activity within the community, encourage member participation and organize community events by viewing their CoP page at least every few days.  Several facilitators can share facilitation responsibilities.   Learn more about the Facilitator Role.  Being a facilitator is worth 5 CEUs per recertification cycle.

If you are interested in becoming a facilitator for an existing CoP, please contact Volunteer Leadership Development.  If you would like to be a facilitator for a community that does not exist, please use the icon on the toolbar "Suggest a Community" and complete the electronic form.

Component State Associations and Local Associations
Your CSA has opportunities on state and local associations. The full range of elected and appointed positions, such as president, directors, and delegates are just a link away.  Most of the terms of office start July 1 through June 30.

Most national appointments are made on an annual basis by the AHIMA President-elect and may have one year or multiple year terms. These appointments are generally made in late Summer for the next calendar year.  The names of volunteers that are not appointed to national committees, councils, workgroups, etc., during a given year will be kept on file for other opportunities and future appointments. If you are interested in volunteering for a volunteer group, please fill out the online application on the Application to Serve and let us know you are interested in volunteering for AHIMA.
